Accessible mostly by boat (unless you can fly), here are a few places you might want to know about in the Shallows:

James Buchanan Bridge

Metro City's biggest landmark. Built in 1912 to link Metro City to the Shallows' biggest land mass, Strauss Island, it was the one of most highly used suspension bridges in the nation. But thanks to a  murderous villain named Detritus, Strauss Island was destroyed, leaving the bridge's southern end hanging in midair. Nowadays, the bridge is a tourist attraction (and fave locale for super- fights), featuring boat tours, information centers and T-shirts.

Durlan Maximum Security Penitentiary

The premiere supermax jail in the country. Founded in 1998 by Harold Durlan, run by Amadi Visyan, and secured by former hero (and former warden) Kate Delacoeur, it boasts the cutting  edge in high-energy incarceration technology. Nicknamed Wonderland by its inhabitants, it incorporates a three-level containment system to keep its superpowered inhabitants in place. The  first level (Caterpillar's Garden) acts as a standard maximum security prison for regular humans. The second (The Tea Party) is containment for low-level powered individuals, sporting nanosealed cells and independent power sources. The third level (The Queen's Court) houses some of the most dangerous entities Metro City has ever seen, with security measures  personalized to the being to ensure they never escape. Or so one would hope...
